If you are a tax payer in the U.K. then there is no better time to think about donating to the Alma Mater than now. Any donation you make along with a gift aid declaration, stating that you are a U.K. tax payer, will enable us to claim back your hard earned tax payments from the Inland Revenue.
Gift aid declaration is a simple statement from you that you are a resident in the U.K. and you pay tax. That's all, you don't have to make any other declaration or statement to the Inland Revenue. Everything is handled through the Association. Inland Revenue doesn't even get to see your declarations unless the Association is audited. As a donor you have no other responsibilities.
Here is an example of how tax effective your money can be if donated through a gift aid scheme. Take for example a donation of £78 you make to your dear College.
To the Association:
£78 Donation received from the donor as gift aid
£22 Tax credit received from Inland Revenue
£100 Total amount received and College funded through the Association.
To the donor if he is a higher rate tax payer
£78 Donation made to the College as gift aid
(£18) Tax difference between rates (40%-22%) on the gross amount of £100 can be
claimed back through your tax return using our Gift Aid receipt.
Your actual contribution = £60
To the Donor if he is a basic rate tax payer:
Your actual contribution = £78
So why wait, you can make a gift aid donation to the PATRICIAN IN NEED on line from our web site www.patrician.org.uk by clicking on Gift Aid.
Often we forget how lucky we are compared to our fellow brothers living back home. The shorter life we lead in this world is judged by the good deeds we have performed. Your gifts are received with a lot of gratitude from your fellow brethren of your homeland, and you will be beholden as a "living God".
Thank you for your generosity.
